Calling All Soccer People!

Hey all of you lovers of the beautiful game: Madi and Lexi are looking to organize a mission to help build our football club in Kenya!

Recently we have been gathering donations and thanks to our general manager Shebby, we have organized matches and practices. However, there is still a lot of work to be done.
Nehemiah FC is a branch of Nehemiah International, an organization that is based in Miwani, Kenya and focuses on sustainability through farming, education and community (for more information on Nehemiah International, click here).
Co-founders and club presidents Madi and Lexi are looking for a group of volunteers to help us organize the club so that it can sustain itself and contribute to the community in Miwani. Check out our club website here

Some of our objectives will be to:

  • Train coaches
  • Run a soccer camp with local kids
  • Structure the first team
  • Establish a functioning and structured youth academy 
  • Establish a women's team
  • Gather photos, player profile information and video footage for the club website
  • Coach players and kids
  • Help in the community 
  • Transport donations from Seattle to Nehemiah
  • Contribute to the farm that we will be staying on
  • Have fun and make new friends!

If you aren't able to participate but know someone who would like to, please pass this on. We want as many people as possible. Not only will this change the lives of the people we will be meeting in Nehemiah, but it will be an experience that will change your life as well. We are shooting for August of 2013. Local kids will be out of school and we will have the opportunity to hold kids camps and to use those as educational opportunities for the coaches that we are training. Up until then, meeting will be held for all of the members of our team to discuss the culture, what you need to do to prepare, answering questions and developing an agenda so that we can get as much done as possible while we are there. We would leave in late July/early August and return at the end of August. There are no age restrictions and no coaching/managing/playing qualifications are necessary. We recommend that you are in good health. Once people have committed, fund raisers will be planned to help cover the costs of this trip! The total cost estimate is around $4,000 (airfare, food, lodging, transportation etc.) If you are in need of community service hours, this is an incredible opportunity for you! We will need help organizing equipment and raising money for the trip!
