Update On Our New Partnership!

We are now collecting medical supplies!

Dear readers,
First off, please excuse the slightly mindless yet informational rambling I am about to embark on. I have yet to polish off my Monday morning cup of coffee!
I am proud to announce that members of Nehemiah FC are teaming up with the members of Mombasa Sister Cities to share supplies and collaborate! I have already talked with some of the amazing (and experienced) women who are hard at work on this project and have had the privilege of being invited to some of their cultural events. The highest honor of all, in my opinion, is that Dr. Robin Jones, one of the amazing women who is dedicating much of her time to helping the women in Kenya, has trusted me to help her find a way to ship an ambulance and medial supplies to Mombasa.

Through their hard work, the Sister Cities program has already established a functioning clinic and are working on a dentist and a birthing clinic for the women in Mombasa and surrounding areas. As of now, women are still dying at frighteningly high rates in childbirth and from other ailments that should not be dramatically impacting their health. With help from Seattle communities, medical supplies and an ambulance have been collected but they are always in need of help!
At the moment we are trying to ship a large quantity of items (see list at the end of post for details) for little to no cost. If any of our readers have any additional information on shipping or have anyone I can contact to help me, please let me know!
As far as our own project goes, Shebby is having trouble with his computer on the farm right now but he was able to check in with me the other day and told me that everything is going well. I assume that they are still playing football regularly and we are counting down the days until Lexi heads down there on July 19th! I am confident that she will be able to send us information and photos so that is something to get excited about!
In regards to the Sister City project, I will be sharing fundraising information that Dr. Robin sends me and we will have all of the Sister City information at our first Nehemiah FC fundraiser, which is still in the works. I am hoping to get more updates out to you all soon, but with finals week approaching I can't make any promises. I can, however, thank you profusely for the continued support, you are all wonderful!
~Madi
